Carrying on their day one form at the Cercle Nautique Calédonien (CNC), the home crew skippered by Cyril Fortin finished with a perfect nine wins from nine to finish on top going in to the second round robin stage. An impressive performance for the team considered outsiders and ranked World #152.
Following closely in second position, the Australian crew skippered by Harry Price became the first team to beat Fortin and crew as they took an early second round robin scalp.
Between the two teams they had 11 victories from 12 matches.
Jon Napier, World Sailing Technical Delegate said, "The sailors have had great sailing conditions on the first two days which has produced some great match ups. All the umpires, local and international, have kept the regatta ticking over nicely in a fantastic sailing area. I'm looking forward to some more great racing as we reach the business end of competition."
The second round robin is scheduled to finish on day three when eight teams will qualify for the quarter finals.
