So far, 74 teams from six nations (Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands and the USA) have registered to compete in the championship.
Racing will take place on the Markermeer, a very big lake were the waves can be high and steep and where the wind can blow hard.
The competitors will have at most 13 races to prove themselves worthy of the champion trophy. It will be challenging.... Racing begins on 11 August after a practice race on 10 August. Three races are then scheduled for 11, 12 and 14 August with two scheduled for 13 and 15 August.
But apart from the first prize, lots of other prizes will be awarded including for second and third place, best student boat, first female helm, daily prizes and "the most spectacular appearance"
The Race Committee will be lead by Allert MASTENBROEK and the International Jury chaired by ISAF International Judge (IJ) Nigel VICK of Great Britain. Vick will be supported by IJ Henry SLEUTEL (NED), Hans KLEFF (NED), IJ Guido PIESSENS (BEL) and IJ Peter SCHEUERL (GER)
