Robert SCHEIDT and Bruno PRADA from Brazil made a tremendous impact on the Star class during the nomination period. Since confirming their intention to campaign the Star full time early in 2006 - SCHEIDT making the switch from the Laser and PRADA from the Finn - the pair have stormed their way into the fleet and up the ISAF World Sailing Rankings. For this experienced duo the nomination period opened with a silver medal at the 2006 Star World Championships in San Francisco, which also put them at the world #1 position on the rankings, and they have continued to raise the bar ever since.

With the exception of one, they have taken home either a gold or a silver medal at all the graded events they have entered and went to the ISAF Sailing World Championships in Cascais as hot favourites. They did not disappoint. With four bullets from the nine race series and only one race finish outside the top four they are worthy champions. The nomination period was wrapped up neatly at the final Qingdao International Regatta with another gold medal.

In addition to the intense training SCHEIDT and PRADA have put in over recent months, SCHEIDT has also found the time to represent his nation at the Pan American Games in the Laser where he picked up the silver medal.
